Talon is defined as new, clean, unalloyed aluminium wire and cable — predominantly 1xxx-series (commercially pure aluminium) or equivalent electrical conductor grade. The material must be new (not post-consumer), free of ACSR (Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced, which contains a steel core), hair wire, fine screen wire, iron of any kind, and insulation. Talon is essentially factory-fresh aluminium conductor scrap generated as offcuts or defective production from wire drawing, cable manufacturing, or electrical component production.

Who Uses Talon Scrap

Aluminium rod and wire producers, cable manufacturers, and secondary smelters producing 1xxx or electrical-grade secondary aluminium are the primary consumers of Talon. Power transmission and distribution cable manufacturers — a large and growing sector in India given ongoing infrastructure investment in grid expansion and electrification — are major consumers of electrical-grade aluminium wire scrap for re-melting into conductor rod. Electrical conductor manufacturers in India’s cable industry clusters (Greater Noida, Vadodara, Haridwar) and transformer winding wire producers are typical downstream users.
